The Organisation

4eden Is a local charity that provides support services throughout the Eden Valley, Appleby and Keswick from our offices based in Penrith. Our services and businesses provide bespoke support for children, young people and adults, who have additional learning needs.

We believe in supporting individuals to access and integrate within the local community and enable people to access the wider community, by assisting individuals with social skills and providing the opportunity to live and experience an ordinary life, as independently as possible.
Skilled and experienced support staff who are trained to meet individual needs, are at the forefront to our services.

Current available positions

We are developing our bakery, based in Penrith – which supplies our café and other eateries & customers locally

Currently we are undergoing some updates to the bakery; we are planning to re-open the doors soon – offering a range of new products.

We are looking for a baker/confectioner to bring in some new ideas, product lines and to use your flair an imagination to create bespoke products for our local customers and our own Café4EDEN at Brougham Hall.

Proven experience in baking, skilled in food production, and able to develop new product ranges, particularly in patisserie. Able to share skills with others to develop food production systems.

Permanent post – 1560 hours annually (around 30 hours weekly) covering 7 days on a rota basis to meet the needs of the business.

Salary IRO 15,500 – 17k by negotiation depending on experience.

Lifeskills Support Worker

We are currently recruiting for Lifeskills Support Workers to join us and support the delivery of our services. Monday – Sunday, 7am – 10pm. Sleep over cover is also available (paid at NLW) we have permanent part and full-time contracted positions. We also have a bank team (these are not contracted and are on availability of your time and our needs to cover services when staff are on leave or off sick) we do not offer zero-hours contracts.

The role: it’s quite simple really – to support and enable people in your community to live their best lives. This is not a care role in the traditional sense; we are not expecting you to deliver traditional personal care; prompts and encouragement to care for themselves is the key to independence. What we are looking for are energetic individuals who are passionate about people. We need you to be you and help others be themselves, living independent lives the way they want to. We need you to encourage, inspire, and simply be there walking alongside, enjoying everyday life. Enable an ordinary life free from rules but guided by boundaries, and help guide through this strange world we all live in. We at 4Eden are so proud of our local community and we want to engage and expand our community to people from all walks of life and show everyone what a great Eden welcome we can give them.

  • Salary range £9.30 to £10.45 pr hour (depending on experience & training)

Supported Living Co-ordinators

The coordinator’s roles require an experienced person who has worked in this environment, you could be an experienced support worker looking for your next step in your career or looking for a new challenge that enables and encourages independence rather than a caring role. You will lead on the recording requirements and managing the staffing rota for your area. You will have office-based duty days and will train new staff to work alongside some fab peeps. We at 4Eden are so proud of our local community and we want to engage and expand our community to people from all walks of life and show everyone what a great 4Eden welcome we can give them.

This role (1) Salary scale: 20,202.00 – 21,741.00 pa (depending on skills, training and experience)

  1. The role/s – We are expanding our supported living – so a great time to get to grips with our current homes and get be in the planning stages of our new ones!

Our new service is imminent and requires 2 co-ordinators to work together – this will be based mostly in the new home, with the office back up – a new property and a great young man who is looking for a new life, to experience all that his community has to offer. You will need experience of working with people who have mental health challenges and who are on the autistic spectrum. This young man (early 30’s) is so ready to live an ordinary life, manage his own house, learn new skills – he loves pigs and tigers. He wants to learn how to cook – he makes amazing tomato soup and he loves cheese scones and chocolate cake – so there will be no shortage of tasty treats to sample. He wants to explore his new home and community and get involved in lots of new activities, you won’t be standing around you will be in there with him, making sure he has every opportunity to live his life to the full.

These roles are based solely at 1 home and you will be involved in the recruitment of the team around you.

For our café:

Permanent post – 850 – 1000 hours annually (around 16-20 hours a week) 3 weekends on 1 off.

Customer service, till, barista, light cooking, cleaning duties.

Salary by negotiation IRO 9,500 based on 1000 hours annually

Opportunity to train to team leader/cook and cover for other posts, more hours available during busy times. Opportunity to develop the operations and expand on opening into evenings and special events. Cross working with our bakery for additional hours and experience is also an option to develop your career with 4EDEN.

Our Services
4Eden believes that support at home should be just that.  We enable people to live in a home of their choice with people who they choose to live with.  We support the person within their assessed level of needs, developing independent living skills to enable people to achieve their goals, explore opportunities, increase independence and reach their potential.

Day Opportunities
4Eden provides a range of group and individual activities based within designated buildings and using local community resources.  The aim of these is to support and promote independence, social and employable skills.  People will be supported to work towards individual and group outcomes.
