A sustainable society, where all empowered members share equal status, are listened to and are enabled to live their best lives.

Conceived over 30 years ago, 4EDEN based centrally in Penrith, is an organisation with ideologies to promote an individual’s ability, regardless of physical impediments and/or learning incapacities.

To enable them to contribute and play an active part in social progression and to have the best life they can. Our services specialise in learning disability and autism spectrum disorder; standard/lower level and high level/complex needs.

We are developing real work opportunities by creating trading businesses as part of our organisation: Bake 4EDEN, Café 4EDEN and Fixit 4EDEN. They provide meaningful activities that help to build our members skills, confidence, and independence where they can, while socialising together and interacting with the general public.

Our core values are:

  • Sense of Belonging (providing an engaging and inclusive environment)
  • It’s all about you (we value our empowered members and together we lay the foundations for you to live your best life)
  • We are who we are (we respect one another as individuals)
  • Financially self-sustainable (through active and engaged governance and expansion of innovative opportunities we attract aligned investors)

Find out more about us here: www.4eden.co.uk

TRUSTEE VACANCIES

Our strategy has been very successful, and this has ensured strong growth over recent years. We need to strengthen our small Board of Trustees to allow 4EDEN to remain effective. Trustees can make a difference by helping to make key decisions, provide guidance, direction and oversight. New board members can bring a fresh perspective and valuable experience.

Being a Trustee is very satisfying as it provides the opportunity to give something back to your local community, while aiding personal development. We particularly need knowledge from some key business functions such as Marketing, HR, IT, Strategic Planning or Operations. Although we would encourage those who have life skills in any of our business areas or the voluntary or care sectors to consider applying, as you will certainly be able to make a difference.

YOUR COMMITMENT

Generally, we hold around 11 meetings a year. These are made up of four Board Meetings, an AGM where you would be required to attend. Plus, Sub-Committee meetings that discuss specific topics. You would only need to attend those where your area of expertise is needed or if you are interested. They usually last about 90 minutes. In addition, there may be some events organised to promote 4EDEN.

The role of Trustee is a voluntary position, therefore unpaid.
